Event journals

Event tracking and operational transparency
across the enterprise

The Event Journals in CENTO provide a unified environment for monitoring and analysing all operational, technical, and system-level events across an enterprise. They serve as a single source of truth for tracking the status of equipment, energy systems, devices, and user actions, ensuring that every anomaly or change is fully documented and traceable.

Event tracking and full operator accountability

Each journal entry contains detailed information about the event — including its timestamp, description, associated object and device, type, and severity. Events are automatically categorised and colour-coded by criticality, allowing operators to assess system status and prioritise responses efficiently. Administrators can configure event categories, severity levels, and colour schemes to match organisational standards.

A critical accountability feature of CENTO ensures that all user interactions with alarms are recorded. When an alarm is triggered, the system logs the credentials of the person who acknowledges or dismisses it. If a user closes an alarm notification without action, this is also registered in the event history. This provides full traceability in cases where an ignored alarm leads to an incident, ensuring that operational responsibility is transparent and verifiable.

Comprehensive event journals across all system domains

The journals are divided into specialised categories covering all aspects of system activity:

  • Technological Events capture process changes, switching operations, control commands, and setpoint activations.
  • System Events record configuration updates, telecontrol actions, and modifications to the Information Model or user access rights.
  • Device Events registers messages from field instruments, including diagnostics and communication errors.
  • Power Quality Events collect deviations in electrical parameters from quality monitoring devices.
  • Oscillogram Logs store waveform captures from fault recorders for analysis or COMTRADE export.
  • Video Logs provide access to surveillance recordings linked to relevant assets.
  • User Comments store contextual notes and observations.
  • All Events consolidates entries from every journal for complete system oversight.

Flexible filtering by time, object, device, or event type enables fast diagnostics, while export options support offline reporting. Together, these capabilities make CENTO’s Event Journals a cornerstone of operational transparency, helping teams maintain accountability, improve reliability, and strengthen safety across all monitored systems.
