Home » Case studies » Power quality analysis and energy monitoring for a nuclear power facility
Power generation units work under strict reliability standards where even small electrical disturbances can affect critical processes. Thermal plants, nuclear stations and renewable sites all face the same challenge of keeping every system stable under fluctuating loads. That is why operators rely on power quality monitoring for power generation units to maintain full visibility of voltage, harmonics and equipment behavior across the entire network. With real time analytics and continuous monitoring, they reduce electrical instability, support safe operation and ensure consistent performance of essential generation equipment.
A newly commissioned nuclear power plant required a robust and secure solution for monitoring power quality across its electrical infrastructure. Built to meet the highest international safety standards, the facility needed to collect and analyze data from multiple substations while maintaining full control over all IT systems.
The plant’s technical team was looking for a vendor-neutral platform that could integrate with existing SCADA systems and support power quality analysis without introducing cybersecurity risks. Any deployed solution had to operate entirely within the plant’s internal network and comply with strict access and data protection protocols.
CENTO was selected as the platform to support real-time power quality analysis and energy monitoring across the facility. The system was deployed within the plant’s closed IT environment, without external connectivity, fully aligned with internal cybersecurity policies.
CENTO was integrated with multiple power quality analyzers, including those already installed in the substations, and configured to work alongside the plant’s existing SCADA infrastructure. All configuration and support were performed remotely in coordination with the plant’s internal IT and instrumentation teams, ensuring full operational control remained on the customer’s side at all times.
The deployment of CENTO provided the plant’s engineering and energy teams with centralized access to power quality data from across the site.
The platform enabled continuous analysis without requiring external support or compromising security protocols. Thanks to its flexibility and ability to meet strict technical requirements, CENTO proved its ability to operate within highly regulated, mission-critical environments.
CENTO is suitable for use in complex, safety-critical environments where reliability and transparency are essential.
